Doner Kebap: the Middle Eastern Big Mac

One of your best bets for late night food in Valencia is doner kebap (Turkish: döner kebabı), also known by the Greek term gyro.  It is a dish made of meat cooked on a vertical spit, normally shaved lamb, and served wrapped in a flatbread such as a pita. Think of a kebap as a Middle Eastern Big Mac. These little sandwich shops are found all over Valencia (and Europe) and offer a fast and inexpensive meal when you have been out on the town. Served with fresh vegetables and both hot and yogurt sauce a kebap can be a real life-saver when most other late- night food options are unavailable.
