Malta Deputy Prime Minister meets Spain's Foreign Affairs Minister

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Tonio Borg held a bilateral meeting with Minister Trinidad Jiménez.

During the meeting, both ministers highlighted the excellent relations between Spain and Malta, a country with which we share historical ties and interests in the Mediterranean.

Regionally, the Ministers discussed the inauguration of the new secretary general of the Union for the Mediterranean, Youssef Amrani and stressed the need to promote this initiative for regional cooperation and contribute to strengthening democratic processes in the bank Southern Mediterranean.

In the economic sphere, the Ministers stressed the considerable increase in the tourist trade thanks to direct flights from Spanish companies to Malta. Minister Borg expressed his willingness to further boost economic exchanges with Spain, especially in the financial sector, in renewable energy and the pharmaceutical industry.
